Festival Lent: Folkart
A celebration of humanity.
When summer evenings begin to carry the scent of the Lent Festival, Maribor transforms into a true global village – and Folkart brings with it a special kind of magic, our most beautiful connection to the global soul.
It’s not just a festival of costumes, songs, and dances. It’s a celebration of identity, of steps that carry centuries-old stories, and of music that needs no translation.
Every year, Folkart opens a window to the world – and at the same time, invites the world to look through ours. Groups arrive in the city from every corner of the planet – from Andean highlands to African savannahs, from Asian temples to European villages. Each brings its own color palette, rhythm, body language, clothing, and beliefs.
But folklore is not just memory. It is living heritage, passed down from generation to generation – with a tied scarf, a subtle movement of the hand, a story whispered by the fire. It is a gentle revolution against forgetting. And Folkart reminds us that culture is not something we observe from a distance – it’s who we are. And who everyone else is too.
Come – discover the world through dance steps, heart songs, and the spirit of community.
Folkart is not just a show – it’s a celebration of humanity.
