The Big Band of the Conservatory of Music and Ballet Maribor began its activity in 1993 under the leadership of Eduard Holnthaner. Initially, the orchestra performed at the annual concerts of the Secondary School of Music and Ballet Maribor, and later also took part in orchestra festivals and various special events. The Big Band has also held several independent concerts (Cankarjev dom, Narodni dom Maribor, Lent Festival, Music September Festival, European Music Day in Ljubljana, Summer Stage Ruše, etc.).

Many soloists have performed with the Big Band, including Darja Švajger, Dada Kladenik, Vesna Petković, Oto Pestner, Victor Mendoza, and others.

At this concert, the Big Band of the Conservatory of Music and Ballet Maribor—active for over 32 years and led by Janez Vouk—presents a diverse program of compositions for a large jazz orchestra, featuring various soloists.
