26. Otroški Folkart – Slovenija
Exploring Living Cultural Heritage through the Performances of Children’s Folklore Groups in Slovenia.
The Children’s Folklore Group of KUD Študent Maribor has been active since 2010 and represents the youngest section of the Cultural and Artistic Society Študent Maribor, which was founded in 1964 and celebrated its remarkable 60th anniversary last year. The society hosts several academic folklore groups and veterans, and this year also three children’s groups (younger, older, and youth groups).
The groups are known for their exceptionally high-quality programs and remarkable achievements, regularly participating in regional and national gatherings of children's folklore groups in Slovenia. The youth group frequently performs abroad, having already showcased the rich Slovenian folk heritage in numerous European countries, including Poland, the Czech Republic, Croatia, North Macedonia, Serbia, and Montenegro. Last year, it also performed for the first time on the African continent, in Egypt.
Through music and folk dances, the children’s folklore groups raise awareness of their roots. We dance and spark the flames!
