26. Kids Folkart – Montenegro

Exploring Living Cultural Heritage through the Performances of Children's Folklore Groups from Montenegro and Serbia.

The Cultural and Artistic Society Boka was founded in 1977. Since its establishment, it has remained committed to elevating folk dance to the level of high art. Throughout its history, it has been one of the key contributors to the cultural development of the municipality and beyond. Through its activities, it nurtures and develops the folklore heritage of Montenegro and the Balkans, including dance, song, music, and customs. Special emphasis is placed on working with young people and collaborating with other societies, organizations, and the local community.

They have participated in numerous festivals at home and abroad, showcasing the diversity and richness of their folklore heritage. They have performed in France, Poland, the United Arab Emirates, Greece, Austria, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Ukraine, Bulgaria, Italy, Turkey, Spain, Germany, Albania, Romania, Hungary, and all former Yugoslav republics. They are proud to highlight their status as a traditional non-governmental organization, which holds special significance for the municipality of Tivat.

Their repertoire, which is based on the dances and games of Montenegro and the region, currently includes 23 choreographies, each with its own original national costume. Boka is also the organizer of the international children’s folklore festival Kolo bez granica.
