Nežka Prosenjak, marimba

Nežka Prosenjak is a Slovenian classical percussionist based in Switzerland. She regularly performs as a soloist, orchestral musician, and artistic collaborator in various ensembles, with a primary focus on playing the marimba. Nežka began her musical education at the age of nine at the Music School Ravne na Koroškem. She continued her studies at the Conservatory for Music and Ballet Maribor, graduating in 2014, and further pursued her education at the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz and the Bern University of the Arts, specializing in contemporary, orchestral, and solo performance.

Over the years, she has received numerous national and international awards, including 1st prize at the Italian Percussive Arts Society International Competition (2017), 1st prize at Malletlab (2018), and 3rd prize at Marimba Festiva Bamberg (2018). In 2018, she was awarded the Dr. Karl Böhm scholarship by the city of Graz. The following year, she joined the European tour of the World Percussion Group, further expanding her international presence.

She has performed in countries such as Germany, Austria, the USA, Spain, Croatia, Serbia, England, Scotland, Monaco, Switzerland, the Netherlands, and Portugal. Notably, she premiered a marimba composition by Ivan Trevino at PASIC, the world’s largest percussion festival, held in Indianapolis in 2018. In January 2025, she performed at the international Bumfest festival in Žalec. She was also selected to participate in the TROMP International Percussion Competition 2022, one of the most prestigious percussion competitions in the world.

Currently, she is a member of The Swiss Orchestra and collaborates with ensembles and orchestras such as Collegium Novum Zürich and the Bern Symphony Orchestra, where she completed an internship in the 2021/2022 season. She also spent two seasons as a percussionist with the Slovenian National Theatre Maribor Orchestra. In addition to her orchestral and chamber music activities, Nežka is actively developing new marimba-focused projects and shares her experience through educational work with young musicians. She is also an endorser of the American marimba brand Marimba One.
