Belly Hole Freak
Belly Hole Freak is a one-man band from Rome. His sound is instinctive and viscerally powerful, enriched with a variety of colors, rhythms, and shades of blues and boogie, rhythm & blues, country, and bluegrass, all fused with raw blues and psychedelic tones. On stage, he delivers performances full of energy and true rock’n’roll attitude.
His musical influences include artists such as Howlin’ Wolf, Captain Beefheart, Robert Johnson, John Lee Hooker, and bands like Cream, The Allman Brothers, Grand Funk Railroad, Creedence Clearwater Revival, and Cactus – just to name a few.
Energy, introspective exploration, the unconscious, and spirituality are the main sources of inspiration – a channel of surreal communication, a free language that sometimes uses invented words, but through expressive interpretation gives them a very concrete meaning.
For Belly Hole Freak, this is the way to feel and live the blues – a way to break boundaries and, in complete freedom, give voice to the soul.
BHF is Massimiliano “Belly”, who simultaneously plays guitar, sings, uses a handmade foot stomp box, cymbals (hi-hat), cowbell, tambourine, kazoo, and ankle rattles. He plays all instruments live at the same time.
