Thursday, 15 January 2026, 5 PM, Glazer Hall Milan Predan's book In the Shadow of the Star provides a concise overview of the activities of the socialist executive authorities in Slovenia, with a wealth of names and data, enriched with background stories. At the same time, it refreshes our memory of people and events that are part of our nation's past, but which we have pushed to the margins since the transition to a new period in Slovenian history. It does not revive Yugo-nostalgia, but rather attempts to contribute to the discussion of that period with a cool head, without the extremes that often characterise the generation that experienced it, torn between revulsion at decades of communist dictatorship and glorification of the social benefits of the former system.
