Based on the resolution of the General Assembly of the United Nations, on December 20, 2017, the member states unanimously adopted Slovenia’s proposal and declared May 20 as World Bee Day.

In 2019, the first exhibition on this theme, titled BEES – OUR LIFE, was presented at the ATTEMS Gallery at Štatenberg Castle, where it was ceremonially opened by the Vice President of the Slovenian Beekeepers’ Association, Mr. Janez Vencelj, Member of the European Parliament Ms. Tanja Fajon, and government member Mr. Milan Brglez.

The exhibition later traveled, organized by the PALETA Art Society Slovenska Bistrica, to local schools and kindergartens, including children’s workshops and society mentors, to the Beekeeping Society Slovenska Bistrica and the Beekeeping Association in Lukovica. It was also presented at the traditional event Images of Bistrica Homesteads, at the opening of the school apiary at the Pohorski odred Primary School, at the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Food in Ljubljana, and at Mozirski gaj in Mozirje. The most recent, 21st exhibition, was held at Ljubljana Castle during the international event GOLDEN BEE, where the award was presented to the Polish Beekeepers’ Association.
