Marc Ribot & Ceramic Dog

Marc Ribot is one of the most original, most respected, most sought-after—and we are not exaggerating—one of the greatest guitarists of our time! Anyone who remembers the stage trembling at Festival Lent in 2012 during his performance with Los Cubanos Postizos knows that this upcoming show with his band Ceramic Dog is not to be missed!

For 40 years, Marc Ribot has been responsible for giving the electric guitar a “dirty” sound in American music—the way an electric guitar should sound. How would Tom Waits have sounded if Marc Ribot hadn’t played guitar on his albums since Rain Dogs? The list of musicians who wanted his distinctive style on their records is practically endless: Elton John, Solomon Burke, Robert Plant, Keith Richards, Chuck Berry, Wilson Pickett, Lounge Lizards, Marianne Faithfull, Medeski Martin & Wood, Caetano Veloso, Norah Jones, The Black Keys, McCoy Tyner, Alison Krauss, and many more. Ribot also regularly collaborates with and shapes the sound of John Zorn’s diverse ensembles.

Yet Marc Ribot’s career has been marked by modesty and restraint. Only now, on his 70th birthday, has he received widespread recognition—fame, if you will. The mighty Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg hosted all of his key ensembles of the past 30 years in a multi-day program in 2024, and in 2025 he released Map of a Blue City, presenting him in a completely new light—not just as an instrumentalist, but also as a singer and songwriter of contemporary protest poetry. The album has been listed among the albums of the year in numerous media outlets.

But what happens in Ceramic Dog truly surpasses all expectations! For more than a decade, this adrenaline-fueled turbo band has been his constant project, where all three musicians dive from the first to the last moment into a whirlwind of overflowing energy and passionate intensity, with a punk-rock attitude, igniting every second of their performance. Marc Ribot at his absolute best—unforgettable!
