Paolo Angeli
By combining traditional Sardinian music, improvisation, and compositions by diverse artists such as Radiohead or Björk, Paolo Angeli has developed such a unique and distinctive style that he simply cannot be compared to anyone else. His instrument alone is impressive: the traditional Sardinian guitar, which he developed between 1993 and 1996, has 25 strings and is enhanced with numerous hammers, pedals, and propellers. It alternately functions as a bass, cello, harp, African kora, and even a percussion instrument. Paolo Angeli is truly a one-man orchestra, bridging post-rock elements, minimalism, and Sardinian traditional music inspired by the sea and sun.
His music is almost impossible to describe, as it’s hard to imagine that a single person on stage can sound like a full orchestra. Paolo Angeli has become highly respected and beloved worldwide, perfecting his unique instrument and personal style for more than three decades. He has released 13 solo albums and contributed to over 50 others. In this exclusive Slovenian performance, he will present his new album, “Lema.” Highly recommended!
"When I first heard Paolo Angeli, I realized that what he offers with his instrument is an important and challenging approach to the guitar. His concert is impressive not only because of the unique sound but also because of the raw energy; his music is admirable, and I am proud to have been involved in the development of his new guitar." – Pat Metheny
