The Maribor Conservatory Big Band was founded in 1993 under the direction of Mag. Edvard Holnthaner and is celebrating its 33rd anniversary this year. In 1997, Janez Vouk took over the leadership of the orchestra, which he continues to lead to this day.

Throughout its history, the orchestra has performed at numerous events and organizes one or more annual solo concerts (Cankarjev Dom Ljubljana, Narodni Dom Maribor, SNG Maribor, Belgrade Philharmonic, Festival Lent, International Music Festival Glasbeni september, European Music Day in Ljubljana, Igraj se z mano festival, Letni oder Ruše, …), collaborating with renowned domestic and international jazz musicians.

For this year’s annual concert, we invited Miloš Milojević, a clarinetist from Serbia who lives in Graz, Austria, where he works as a musician and educator at the jazz department of the local University of Arts.
