Dominik Štibernik’s exhibition explores themes of absence, emptiness, and shifting expectations, where the anticipated art object is often replaced by deliberate lack. This strategy pushes the viewer toward the margins of perception and experience, challenging conventional encounters with art. However, the exhibition Author at Tkalka Gallery also signals a transition in the artist’s practice. With works such as Selfie (2025), Herbarium (2026), White Painting (2025), and Artist’s Gesture I and II (2026), Štibernik enters a new creative phase. White Painting is especially significant: an untouched canvas, still in its original packaging and enclosed in a plexiglass box, reframes authorship and artistic intention.
