Gugutke
The ensemble Gugutke is a quintet of Slovenian musicians who, with a youthful approach, perform folk music from regions spanning from Resia all the way to Turkey. The members add their own distinctive touch to traditional music while remaining faithful to its original sources and traditional performance techniques of various dances and songs. Their performances represent a return to nature and folk music, allowing it to reveal itself in all its simple beauty.
Gugutke’s repertoire ranges from lyrical vocal love ballads to lively dance rhythms, enabling them to adapt to different stages and audiences—from acoustic chamber music concerts to larger amplified outdoor venues. The ensemble has performed at stages and festivals such as Bardentreffen Festival in Nuremberg, European Bauhaus Festival in Brussels, Kultursommer Wien in Austria, Crossroads Music and Łódź Worldfest in Poland, Pannonica Festival in Poland, Ascoli Piceno Festival and Mittelfest in Italy, MENT, Druga Godba, Godi Bodi, Slovenska zemlja v pesmi in besedi, and others. Their concerts are frequently broadcast on national radio stations RTV and ARD. The ensemble has collaborated with musicians such as Adi Smolar, tenor of the Slovenian Philharmonic and the Slovenian Octet Rok Ferenčak, the mixed choir Viva Brežice, the Cantabile Symphony Orchestra, the Ptičji studio choir, folk musician Marino Kranjac, and American cellist Sarah Ghandour.
In 2025, they released their debut album under the Celinka label.
