Daj mi roko, pesem
The concert Give Me Your Hand, a Song is an exclusive stage production created for the Maribor audience at Narodni dom Maribor. It is an emotional encounter between Slovenian and Russian folk poetry, carrying a powerful message of connection and peace.
At a time when dialogue between cultures should be the key to harmony, this project brings together the universal power of folk poetry with themes of war and love, as well as the interconnectedness of the Slavic soul and Russian-Slovenian tradition. The poems speak of passion, struggle, loss, sorrow, virtue, and melancholy, as well as the shared human experience, where memory reaches into a common heritage. Here, song and art play a crucial role as a bridge between nations: they build empathy, preserve memories of a shared history, and foster understanding where politics fail. With this event, we build a narrative of peace through art that heals the wounds of the past.
The project is an original work by Svetlana Makarovič and was developed in the interdisciplinary laboratory of the Embassy of Svetlana Makarovič, based at GT22 in Maribor. This cultural-artistic initiative has formed a partnership with Narodni dom, thereby strengthening the local cultural scene.
