Jazz Podij: Katarina Juvančič & Dejan Lapanja
Concert by the alt-folk duo Katarina Juvančič & Dejan Lapanja, who combine contemporary sounds with elements of folk music through emotional, storytelling-driven compositions, presenting their original repertoire enriched with international influences.
Katarina Juvančič and Dejan Lapanja entered the music scene in 2009 by participating in a national radio competition for new songs, where they presented the piece Uej Uej (Magdalenca). Their music, which can be described as alt-folk, draws from the rich emotional world of human destinies and female perspectives, building a bridge between modern musical trends and traditional folk expression and sensibility.
Together with numerous musical guests from Slovenia and abroad, the duo has released three acclaimed albums: Selivke (2012), Hope’s Beautiful Daughters (2014), and Vmesje (2017). They are recipients of two awards (bronze and silver) at the international singer-songwriter festival Kantest.
They have performed throughout Slovenia, neighboring countries (Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Austria), as well as in Scotland, Ireland, Portugal, England, Germany, India, Kyrgyzstan, and Sri Lanka.
