Hauptman

Žan Hauptman, a talented singer, keyboardist, and songwriter, represents a fresh and distinctive voice on the Slovenian music scene. His music can be described as a refined blend of jazz, alternative R&B, soul, and pop.

With laid-back grooves, he moves away from typical arrangement and harmonic approaches of contemporary pop production, and through a bold fusion of genres creates a unique and recognizable sound.

He studied jazz vocals in Klagenfurt and further honed his skills in Boston under the legendary jazz vocalist Sheila Jordan. His musical expression is shaped by subtle influences of jazz harmony, along with elements of soul and funk, forming an intimate yet modern sonic identity.

In 2021, he released his debut album Finished, not perfect, which he also presented at the Eurosonic Noorderslag (ESNS) in Groningen. The album earned him two nominations for the Zlata piščal, and he won in the Newcomer of the Year 2021 category.

This was followed by the successful album Blizu (2023), where he delves deeper into personal, introspective lyrics in Slovenian and further expands his musical expression. Another important milestone is his unplugged performance on Izštekani, later released as a live album, revealing a new dimension of his artistry—more intimate, dynamic, and emotionally charged.

With his sincerity, musical breadth, and strong artistic vision, Žan Hauptman remains one of the most compelling representatives of the younger generation of musicians pushing the boundaries of contemporary Slovenian music.
