Mike Sponza is one of the most recognizable European blues musicians, known for blending blues, soul, and rock’n’roll. With his charisma, guitar, and distinctive voice, he creates a modern yet deeply authentic blues sound.

One of the most prominent European blues artists, Italian guitarist, singer, and songwriter Mike Sponza, is coming to Festival Lent. He has been active on the blues scene since the early 1990s, and during that time has impressed audiences across Europe with his original style that fuses blues, soul, and rock’n’roll.

Mike Sponza has collaborated with many renowned international musicians and performed at some of Europe’s most prestigious festivals and venues. Critics describe him as an exceptionally charismatic performer who, through his guitar and voice, delivers an authentic yet contemporary sound deeply rooted in the blues tradition. His albums — including Kakanic Blues, Continental Shuffle, Ergo Sum (recorded at Abbey Road Studios), and Made in the Sixties (created in collaboration with legendary poet Pete Brown) — have received excellent reviews from both critics and audiences.

In Maribor, he will perform with his trusted blues band — a sextet that has been impressing audiences for over 30 years with its energy, precision, and expressive power. The audience can expect a top-class blues concert from an Italian ensemble, where passion, virtuosity, and unrestrained improvisational freedom intertwine.
