Imer Traja Brizani & Amala
Amala (Imer Traja Brizani Ensemble) celebrates 30 years of artistic activity under the leadership of composer and musicologist Imer Traja Brizani. The project unites contemporary jazz and classical tradition into a refined, virtuosic sonic experience, grounded in rich cultural heritage and intergenerational musical knowledge.
The ensemble, led by Imer Traja Brizani — an acclaimed composer, musicologist, and PhD researcher in Romology — marks 30 years of high-level artistic creation this year. Brizani, awarded a national state medal by the President of the Republic for his contribution to culture, is regarded as a central figure at the intersection of art and science. The Amala project represents a refined symbiosis of academic depth and virtuosic freedom, where contemporary jazz and classical tradition are intricately woven through original compositions.
A distinctive strength of the project lies in its unique family continuity, where musical knowledge and heritage spanning four generations are reflected in the artistic expression — a rare example of living cultural evolution in the European context. The ensemble, which also features internationally established cellist Bernardo Brizani alongside his father, regularly performs at major national and prestigious international festivals worldwide. The work of Brizani places Romani culture within the highest standards of contemporary music production and intercultural dialogue.
