27th Children’s Folkart – Croatia, Serbia

An encounter with living cultural heritage through performances by young folklore groups from Serbia and Croatia, who preserve tradition through dance, song, and play, presenting it both at home and abroad.

Serbian Cultural and Artistic Society “Abrašević”, Valjevo

The Serbian Cultural and Artistic Society KUD Abrašević Valjevo from Valjevo brings together around 250 members across school, pioneer, youth, senior, and veteran folklore groups. Founded in 1905, it is considered one of the most important cultural and artistic societies in Serbia.

Its quality is confirmed by numerous domestic and international awards and recognitions. The president of the society is Katarina Ašković. Its greatest recognition, however, comes from audiences—through applause and standing ovations received during performances in Portugal, Spain, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Belgium, Poland, the Czech Republic, Russia, Bulgaria, Israel, Greece, Canada, the USA, and Mexico.

On stage, young folklorists aged between 10 and 15 will perform.

Cultural and Artistic Society “Ivančice”

The Cultural and Artistic Society KUD Ivančice was founded in 1995 with the aim of bringing children and young people together and providing meaningful leisure time through play, dance, song, and music.

They present their skills at performances, festivals, and fairs both at home and abroad. So far, they have participated in 18 European tours, and this year they are preparing to take part in the Festival Lent in Maribor.

In addition to performances at various events organized by GSKUD Kutina and the Association of Cultural and Artistic Societies of the Sisak-Moslavina County, they have also appeared at major Croatian folklore festivals, including Vinkovačke jeseni, Đakovački vezovi, Brodsko kolo, and Na Neretvi misečina pala.

Last year, the society celebrated its 30th anniversary with a major gala concert attended by former members, on which occasion they also published a book titled Ladaj, lepoj ladaj.
