The Big Band of the Maribor Conservatory of Music and Ballet began operating in 1993 under the leadership of Eduard Holnthaner. Initially, the orchestra performed at annual concerts of the Secondary Music and Ballet School Maribor, later also appearing at orchestra reviews and various occasional performances.

Throughout its rich history, the Big Band has also given several standalone concerts at Cankarjev dom, Narodni dom Maribor, the Lent Festival, the Musical September Festival, the European Day of Music in Ljubljana, and the Summer Stage in Ruše.

Numerous renowned soloists have collaborated in these concerts, including Darja Švajger, Dada Kladenik, Vesna Petković, Oto Pestner, Victor Mendoza, and others.

At this concert, the Big Band of the Maribor Conservatory of Music and Ballet, active for 33 years, presents a diverse programme of compositions for large jazz orchestra. It will perform with soloists under the direction of Janez Vouk.
