Ervin Hartman's Styrian Veterans' Band
Ervin Hartman's Styrian Veterans' Band was founded in 2002 on his initiative and operates under the auspices of the Pošta Maribor Cultural and Artistic Society. On the occasion of its 15th anniversary, the band was renamed the Ervin Hartman Styrian Veterans Band at the initiative of its members.
Although some members are still active in their home bands, the veterans’ band primarily offers them a space for musical fellowship, intergenerational bonding, and making music together. The band members come from twenty different bands, including some from very distant locations; about a third are from neighboring Austrian Styria.
Ervin Hartman's Styrian Veterans' Band has released four CDs to date. The latest is titled Historical Marches and features sixteen marching tunes. The oldest, the Finnish Cavalry March, dates back to 1630, while most of the pieces are from the nineteenth and twentieth centuries.
Organizing concerts in the city park has a rich tradition dating back to 1890, and for more than three decades, the Maribor National Hall has continued this tradition. In addition to the social aspect, it has also added a community dimension, as it primarily offers amateur societies and music groups from the city and surrounding areas the opportunity to perform. Thus, a diverse and vibrant musical scene is provided by brass bands, choirs, chamber ensembles, vocal groups, folk singers and musicians, and folklore groups.
From May to September, promenade concerts—accompanied by pleasant encounters and intergenerational gatherings, as well as children’s play and laughter—draw many Maribor residents to this green urban oasis and enhance the experience for casual visitors to one of the most beautiful parks in this part of Europe.
For 2026, we are planning 13 concerts, which will take place every sunny Sunday at 10:30 a.m., and admission will be free.
The concerts in the park are supported by the City of Maribor.
In case of bad weather, the event will be canceled.
The organizer reserves the right to change the program.
