KUD Majšperk Tambura Orchestra
The KUD Majšperk Tambura Orchestra has been active since 2002, and since 2004 it has been led by conductor Drago Klein, whose dedicated work has been instrumental in the orchestra’s harmonious sound and numerous successes.
The tambura players regularly participate in regional gatherings and national competitions, from which they consistently return with awards. Among their most recent achievements is a gold award with honors, which they received in March 2023 at a regional themed concert of tambura and mandolin players from Slovenia. They enjoy enriching their performances with guest artists, so in recent years they have collaborated with numerous vocal and instrumental soloists as well as various musical ensembles.
The orchestra is composed of members from different generations, including many young people who began their musical journey at the Tambura School, which the Majšperk tambura players have been running for years for all those curious about music. Through their activities, they play a significant role in shaping the cultural life of the municipality, and with their love of music, they pass on the tambura tradition to audiences at home and abroad.
Organizing concerts in the city park has a rich tradition dating back to 1890, and for more than three decades, the Maribor National Hall has continued this tradition. In addition to the social aspect, it has also added a community dimension, as it primarily offers amateur associations and music groups from the city and surrounding areas the opportunity to perform. Thus, a diverse and vibrant musical scene is provided by wind bands, choirs, chamber ensembles, vocal groups, folk singers and musicians, and folklore groups.
From May to September, promenade concerts—accompanied by pleasant encounters and intergenerational gatherings, as well as children’s play and laughter—draw many Maribor residents to this green urban oasis and enhance the experience for casual visitors to one of the most beautiful parks in this part of Europe.
For 2026, we are planning 13 concerts, which will take place every sunny Sunday at 10:30 and admission will be free.
The concerts in the park are supported by the City of Maribor.
In case of inclement weather, the event will be canceled.
The organizer reserves the right to change the program.
