The Frajheim Brass Band

The Frajheim Wind Band is one of the oldest bands in Slovenia, and next year it will celebrate its 200th anniversary.

Its beginnings are connected with the glassmaking industry in Pohorje. When the entrepreneur Hieronim Gürtler founded Stara Glažuta, he also employed Simon Jurič, a Czech by birth, among the workers from Vienna, who is considered the founder of the Frajheim Band. Jurič later bought the "Zgornje Freglovo" estate in Frajheim and moved the glassmaking industry to his farm, where he founded the band in 1827.

Today, it has twenty active members, including many young people. The band regularly performs in various locations across Slovenia, and has also played at the European Parliament in Brussels.

Organizing concerts in the city park has a rich tradition dating back to 1890, and for more than three decades, the Maribor National Hall has continued this tradition. In addition to the social aspect, it has also added a social note, as it primarily offers amateur associations and musical groups from the city and its surroundings the opportunity to perform. Thus, the diverse and varied musical events are provided by brass bands, choirs, chamber ensembles, vocal ensembles, folk singers and musicians, and folklore groups.

From May to September, promenade concerts, accompanied by pleasant meetings and socializing between generations, as well as children's play and laughter, lure many Maribor residents to the green city oasis, and for random visitors, make their visit to one of the most beautiful parks in this part of Europe more enjoyable.

For 2026, we are planning 13 concerts, which will be held every sunny Sunday at 10:30 a.m., and admission will be free.

The concerts in the park were supported by the City of Maribor.

In case of bad weather, the event is cancelled.

The organizer reserves the right to change the program.
