The Pošta Maribor Wind Orchestra
The Pošta Maribor Wind Orchestra was founded in 1931. Today it has 80 members and is considered one of the most demanding quality groups. With a diverse repertoire, it is focused primarily on concert music and symphonic sound. In its artistic activities, it often collaborates with prominent musical guests, both soloists and conductors, who further enrich the orchestra's program and the Maribor music scene.
In its mission, the KUD Pošta wind orchestra has long ceased to be just a postal orchestra, but rather a Maribor and Slovenian one. It is one of the more recognizable wind orchestras in Slovenia, which has successfully presented its city of Maribor to the world. The orchestra has toured the republics of the former Yugoslavia, Austria, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Germany, Denmark, Sweden, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, Belgium, Hungary, Italy, Russia and Spain. It has received a number of international awards and excellent rankings in competitions.
The orchestra is known to the Maribor audience for its themed spring and New Year's concerts, which it has been organizing for several decades. It is also recognized abroad for its popular figurative performances.
A special feature of the orchestra is the great loyalty of its members, as many have been with it from their youth to their old age. Among them are families that have been participating in the orchestra for the fourth generation in a row. It is worth mentioning the two Hartman conductors, father and son. Ervin Hartman Sr. led the orchestra for 26 years, from 1937, with an interruption during World War II due to cultural silence. His son, Ervin Hartman Jr., successfully led the orchestra for 52 years, between 1967 and 2019, and then handed over the baton to his younger colleague and long-time member of the orchestra, Aleksandar Čonč.
Organizing concerts in the city park has a rich tradition dating back to 1890, and for more than three decades, the Maribor National Hall has continued this tradition. In addition to the social aspect, it has also added a social note, as it primarily offers amateur associations and musical groups from the city and its surroundings the opportunity to perform. Thus, the diverse and varied musical events are provided by brass bands, choirs, chamber ensembles, vocal ensembles, folk singers and musicians, and folklore groups.
From May to September, promenade concerts, accompanied by pleasant meetings and socializing between generations, as well as children's play and laughter, lure many Maribor residents to the green city oasis, and for random visitors, make their visit to one of the most beautiful parks in this part of Europe more enjoyable.
For 2026, we are planning 13 concerts, which will be held every sunny Sunday at 10:30 a.m., and admission will be free.
The concerts in the park were supported by the City of Maribor.
In case of bad weather, the event is cancelled.
The organizer reserves the right to change the program.
