Cello and piano harmonies
4st concert of the Youth Cycle 2026/2027
DUO DEVAN
Ema Grčman, cello; Tanja Cinc Mirt, piano
Commented concert
Duo Devana will take the young audience on a musical journey of two instruments that are mutually supportive and well-rooted in the history of music. The combination of cello and piano is one of the most popular chamber ensembles in classical music, as the deep, singing tone of the cello perfectly complements the harmonic breadth of the piano. Many composers have written superb sonatas and shorter pieces for these two instruments, including Ludwig van Beethoven, Johannes Brahms, Sergei Rachmaninov, Gabriel Fauré, Camille Saint-Saëns and many others. At our commented concert, we will travel through the history of both instruments, learn about their characteristics, hear characteristic compositions and learn many other interesting things about the harmony and expressiveness of the cello and piano.
