Quintet for Piano and Winds in E-flat major, K 452
***
Serenade No. 10 in B flat major, K 361/370a, "Gran Partita"

In his rich oeuvre, Mozart found a spark of genius in composing for almost every concert or salon instrument and dedicated an original and imaginative creation to them. Wind instruments can also thank him for this diverse opus, as he created a series of masterpieces for various ensembles and combinations of these instruments. Perhaps the most outstanding of these is the serenade with the adjective "Gran Partita", which we will hear at our concert dedicated to Mozart. It is the most prominent work, written for the standard eight-wind ensemble and expanded with four additional voices (among them the rarely heard basset horns, a variant of the clarinet from Mozart's time) and a double bass. This music combines the spirit of a court overture, the complexity of a symphony, the drama of opera and the depth of chamber music in a completely original way, characteristic of Mozart.

The concert will feature a top international brass ensemble performing Mozart's works. The unique combination of renowned Slovenian musicians and their foreign colleagues, with whom they collaborate on the largest international stages, as well as experienced masters and representatives of the new generation, will join forces on stage. The special guest soloist of the concert will be the internationally renowned Croatian pianist Dejan Lazic, who is famous not only for his solo performances, but also for his studiousness and compositional work. We will be able to see this for ourselves at this concert, where Lazić will present his version of Mozart's unfinished Third fantasies and thereby personally paid tribute to the composer who continues to inspire today.
