Amir Husak – Oko gore

The project explores, through film, sound, and performance, the impact of border policies and control on space, nature, and the lives of people living along the border between Bosnia and Croatia.

On Thursday, 2 July 2026 at 19:00, you are invited to OBRAT – Space for Art and Participation for the opening of the exhibition and performance by resident artist Amir Husak (BA), titled (working title) Oko gore (The Eye of the Mountain).

The exhibition will be on view at OBRAT every weekday from 13:00 to 18:00 until 31 July 2026.

Oko gore is a poetic experimental film and performative project that explores how European border closure policies, militarization, and surveillance are inscribed into the landscape, ecology, and everyday life along the Bosnia–Croatia border in the Plješevica area.

Through a contemplative film language, testimonies of migrants, field recordings, and soundscapes, it intertwines geopolitical violence with environmental consequences such as deforestation caused by border control. In addition to the film, the project includes an evolving performative lecture that adapts to each local context and connects personal narrative, critical reflection, statistical data, as well as landscape and sound documentation.

Within the SobaZaGosteMaribor (GuestRoomMaribor) residency, the work specifically engages with the Slovenian context, its proximity to the Bosnia–Croatia border, and the intersections between migration, the Schengen regime, surveillance, and ecological interventions.
