Breaks night

Magnetic Shift of the electronic underground

Magnetic Shift is not just music — it is a magnetic shift of space.

For the second consecutive year as part of the Festival Lent, the collective Magnetic Shift announces a two-day music program dedicated to exploring the shifting spectrums of contemporary electronic production. After years of shaping Maribor’s alternative scene, a successful first festival edition, and recent innovative projects under the HRUP series, the collective returns with two genre-focused evenings.

The first night is dedicated to house music. The headliner will be Ptuj-based DJ Akaj, co-founder of the forward-thinking label Origin Records and a key member of the Rite of Passage collective. Akaj is considered one of the most articulate selectors on the Slovenian electronic scene and one of the country’s most promising DJs. His sets blend house influences with contemporary minimalist approaches, creating a sound that is both nostalgic and futuristic.

This year brings an important novelty — the event moves into the intimate and historically rich setting of Klub KGB(Kulturno-glasbeni brlog) at Vojašniški trg. This legendary “den” becomes the stage for two sonically distinct yet energetically connected nights.

Magnetic Shift goes beyond a music event; it is a magnetic transformation of space. Through custom visual installations, lighting design, and scenography, Klub KGB will be turned into a new audiovisual dimension for two days.

The Saturday program departs from steady four-on-the-floor rhythms into the world of broken beats. The night is defined by higher intensity, complex rhythmics, and raw energy inspired by jungle, electro, and contemporary bass music.

From Austria comes Simon Hafner, known as Sun People, who has been pushing the boundaries of sound design for years. His work, released on respected labels such as Exit Records, represents a refined fusion of footwork, jungle, and techno. Known for surgical precision and high-energy performances, he seamlessly blends broken rhythms with high velocity intensity.
