Saxophone Quartet of the Academy of Music Ljubljana

Four young saxophonists from the Academy of Music in Ljubljana are already, as students, winning awards and performing on concert stages both at home and abroad. Together they create a fresh, energetic sound and prove that the future of the saxophone is in excellent hands.

The ensemble consists of outstanding young musicians, students of the Academy of Music Ljubljana, who are already drawing significant attention in the broader international space through their competition and concert achievements.

Soprano saxophonist Jan Tominić (class of Prof. M. Rogina) is a recipient of the Student Prešeren Award and winner of numerous competitions (TEMSIG, HDGPP, EMONA, Davorin Jenko). He also won the Croatian selection for Eurovision Young Musicians and has performed as a soloist with the RTV Slovenia Symphony Orchestra and the Croatian Radiotelevision Symphony Orchestra, as well as at the World Saxophone Congress.

Alto saxophonist Meta Neža Stražiščar, a master’s student under Prof. M. Drevenšek, developed her musical training in Logatec and Celje. She is a successful competitor at prestigious national and international competitions (TEMSIG, Emona, Andorra SaxFest) and is highly active as a chamber musician both in Slovenia and abroad.

Tenor saxophonist Tomislav Slačanac (class of Prof. M. Rogina) comes from Croatia, where he is a multiple national champion (HDGPP) and prizewinner at international competitions in Varaždin, Split, and Sremska Mitrovica. He regularly expands his experience as a member of the Big Band Osijek.

Baritone saxophonist Maksim Gal (class of Prof. M. Rogina) studied at the Grosuplje Music School and the Conservatory for Music and Ballet Ljubljana. He is a recipient of gold awards at prestigious competitions such as TEMSIG, EMONA, and Woodwind & Brass, and regularly refines his skills at masterclasses.
