TEMSIG 2026 Laureates: Luka Mlakar (horn) • Nuša Fifer (trombone)
Luka Mlakar and Nuša Fifer are highly successful young musicians and multiple prize winners at national and international competitions, establishing themselves as promising representatives of the new Slovenian musical generation.
Luka Mlakar is one of the most accomplished and dedicated students of the Celje Music School, consistently achieving top results at both national and international competitions through talent and disciplined work.
His list of awards is exceptionally impressive. At the TEMSIG national competition he won a gold plaque, first prize, and a special award for the best performance of the compulsory piece in 2023. He repeated his success in 2025 with a brass quartet, earning a gold plaque and second prize, and this year again achieved a gold plaque, first prize, and a special award for the interpretation of a Slovenian composer’s work.
He has also excelled at the Bolero competition (2023: gold plaque with distinction and first prize; 2025: third prize), the Davorin Jenko competition in Belgrade (2024: first prize), Celeia (2024: gold plaque), and Woodwinds & Brass in Varaždin (2025: first prize).
Luka is already establishing himself as a distinguished soloist. With the Little String Orchestra he performed twice in Cremona, Italy (at the Teatro Ponchielli and Cortile Federico II). In 2025 he made his solo debut with the Celje Music School Symphony Orchestra, performing Mozart’s Horn Concerto No. 3.
Nuša Fifer is a 13-year-old trombonist studying at the Slovenska Bistrica Music and Ballet School under mentor Alen Ojcinger. She develops her skills through individual lessons and regularly performs at school concerts while participating in national and international competitions, where she consistently achieves top scores and awards.
At TEMSIG she has twice received a gold award, including a perfect score of 100 points in her latest performance, the highest in her category. At the Davorin Jenko International Competition in Belgrade she won a gold award and first prize twice, a result she also achieved at the Bolero competition. At the Woodwind & Brass International Competition in Varaždin she earned a gold award and first prize three times. With her achievements, she ranks among the most successful young musicians of her generation.
