He began his formal education at the Slovenske Konjice Music School under Prof. Jernej Senegačnik and currently continues his studies at the Maribor Conservatory of Music and Ballet under Prof. Nejc Merca. Despite his young age, he has already built an impressive record of achievements, including six gold and one silver award from international competitions, where he has won four absolute first prizes. His career highlight so far is his outstanding result at this year’s TEMSIG national competition, where he impressed the jury with a flawless performance, earning first prize, a perfect score of 100 points, and two special awards for exceptional interpretation. He is currently finishing primary school and will continue his musical education at the artistic gymnasium of the Maribor Conservatory.
Gal Oberžan is a 14-year-old accordionist studying at the Maribor Conservatory of Music and Ballet under Prof. Amadej Herzog. He is a multiple prizewinner at national and international competitions (TEMSIG, Pula, Daruvar, Varaždin, Celje, Murska Sobota), where he consistently impresses juries and audiences with musical sensitivity and technical excellence.
When Piano Duo 88 performs, the full richness of all 88 piano keys comes alive in a refined and balanced musical dialogue. At this year’s TEMSIG competition, the duo impressed the jury with 97 points and first place in category 1b. The ensemble consists of Marija Dvoršak and Bor Janžekovič, students of the Private Music School at the Monastery of St. Peter and Paul in Ptuj, under the guidance of mentor Angelika Lajh. Bor Janžekovič, a sixth-grade piano student, also expresses his creativity through composition. He often performs his own works, either solo or in school chamber ensembles, and especially enjoys sharing music with other performers.
