Pottery is one of the oldest traditional crafts and holds an important place in Slovenia’s cultural heritage. During the lecture, you will discover the development of Slovenian pottery through history, learn about characteristic forms of pottery, traditional clay-shaping techniques, and the role of pottery in everyday life and in preserving cultural heritage.

A special part of the event will be a live pottery demonstration on the potter’s wheel, where you will have the opportunity to observe how a simple lump of clay is transformed into a finished ceramic piece.

The lecture will be presented by Rok Komel, history professor, graduate ethnologist, and potter at Žička Kartuzija. As one of the few masters of traditional pottery in Slovenia, he preserves and continues the rich heritage of Slovenian pottery through his work.
