Arrival at the University of Maribor Botanical Garden in the morning, which is located in Pivoli, in the area of the former castle park. During the guided relaxing walk through the park, we will admire the numerous types of trees, bushes and flowers, as well as old varieties of apple and pear trees.
After the tour, we will drive to Malečnik to the Protner Excursion Farm, which produces grapes and wine, fruit and vegetables using an integrated approach. They will serve us a snack – a plate of homemade delicacies that might include meat from minced lard, cured meat, cooked sausage, homemade bread, gibanica and house wine.
After the refreshments, we will take a panoramic ride through the Maribor city centre, admiring numerous buildings, churches, streets and squares as well as the Drava River, which runs through the city and gives it a special charm.
In Selnica ob Dravi we will be welcomed by the Soven company, which has manufactured products from sheep’s wool for over 20 years using environmentally-friendly ecological procedures. They will demonstrate approaches to sheep-herding and sheep’s wool both in the past and today. You will have an opportunity to purchase products after the tour.
Full of new knowledge, we will head out to new adventures. In the Koblarjev Zaliv bay, the Maribor rafters (flosarji) will await us with an aperitif and invite us to ride with a raft (flos), up to Lent in Maribor (duration 1.5 h). During the ride, we will learn about the meaning of the Drava River for people’s lives and the effects of rafting, which held great economic importance in the past.
