Melje industrial zone
Melje was the main centre of the Maribor industry in the 19th century as well as the beginning of the 20th century, when it employed a number of workers from Maribor and its surroundings. Even today the largest Maribor industrial plants have their seats located in Melje.
Dam at the Drava River in Melje
The dam was built in 1968 to drain water to the canal of the Zlatoličje hydroelectric power plant. The dam itself considerably increased the Drava River water level in the city, and a durable embankment had to be constructed.
