Cooltura brings together audio walks, craft stories, museum exploration and Maribor’s underground.

Visit Maribor’s Cooltura brings together cultural experiences for inquisitive visitors. Put on headphones for Potepini ob Dravi (Wanderers along the Drava), discover master crafts on Pot obrti (Craft Trail), or explore the tunnels in Tezno with a guide. History continues in the museum and on the city streets too. Choose an experience that invites you to listen, observe and take part.

Headphones that connect you with your surroundings

We often use headphones to distance ourselves from our surroundings. On the interactive audio trail Potepini (Wanderers), they have a different role: helping us experience those surroundings in a new way.

Developed by Lutkovno gledališče Maribor (Maribor Puppet Theatre) and Zavod Cona, the trail follows the Drava. With an app and headphones, the real space intertwines with soundscapes and imagined situations. Walking becomes part of an artistic experience.

Before visiting, check the access instructions and necessary equipment. Then stop in places you would usually walk straight past.

Cooltura has a specific meaning at Visit Maribor

Under this name, Visit Maribor presents cultural experiences including Potepini (Wanderers), Poti obrti (Craft Trails), Mini Zgodovina (Mini History), Maribor – mesto na meji (Maribor – a city on the border) and Podzemni rovi na Teznu (Tezno underground tunnels). They share an exploration of the city through different forms of participation.

Choose a programme according to your curiosity: sound, crafts, history or industrial heritage.

Beneath Tezno, history continues in the tunnels

In Tezno, a guided tour descends approximately 15 metres below the surface. During the Second World War, aircraft engine production was moved into the tunnels because of the danger of bombing.

The space offers a direct encounter with the industrial and wartime past. When planning, consider the stairs, damp conditions and necessary footwear and clothing. Check the suitability of the tour with the provider.

Explore the city through the work of human hands too

Poti obrti (Craft Trails) guide visitors towards master craft processes and living craft stories. The museum-based project also introduces Kačinari silversmithing and Kolarič gingerbread making.

For families, another option is Mini Zgodovina (Mini History), which combines museum exploration with a route through the city. Visits must be arranged in advance.
