Natural oasis near Maribor city center
Maribor Island, a natural oasis along the Drava River, once again offers more than just swimming this year. Visitors can look forward to a vibrant accompanying program, a relaxed atmosphere, and active leisure activities suitable for all ages.
In collaboration with numerous sports clubs and associations, the “Play Sports on the Island” program encourages outdoor physical activity. Visitors can try volleyball, badminton, swimming techniques, aerobics, and taekwondo. They can also explore the underwater world with Jure Daić, Slovenia’s top freediver, while Bodifit instructors lead energetic group workouts.
For children, there will be creative workshops led by mentors from the MARS Institute, and puppet shows presented by the Maribor Puppet Theatre. All activities are free of charge.
Together with the Maribor Friends of Youth Association, the “Ticket for a Child” charity project will return, aiming to provide unforgettable summer experiences to children from disadvantaged backgrounds.
The swimming season will conclude with an outdoor film evening, taking place on the last weekend of August amid the natural surroundings of Maribor Island.
Getting here by bus!
Bus line G5 (Rotovž) will be extended to the parking lot at the entrance to the island during the bathing season. For enhanced safety, traffic on the main parking area will be one-way only.
