House wines, farm dishes and close-up views of fallow deer in the Slovenske gorice hills.

In Dragučova near Pernica, among the vineyards and orchards of the Slovenske gorice hills, Protner Tourist Farm combines winemaking and rural hospitality. The family has a long tradition of both, and began bottling its own wine in 1983. Views from the hillside stretch towards the Drava Valley, Pohorje and Donačka Gora, while Maribor is only a short distance away.

The farm's wine tavern serves estate wines and traditional homemade food, including fresh bread, local sausages, cured meats and gibanica pastry. A particular speciality is homemade venison salami. The farm also keeps a herd of fallow deer that can be observed up close. Alongside its vineyards, the family grows fruit and vegetables using environmentally considerate methods.

Group wine tastings and cellar tours can be arranged in advance. Accommodation is also available for those staying longer in the countryside. The combination of family wine traditions, regional cooking and encounters with the deer makes this more than a typical wine-tasting stop near Maribor.
