Just steps from the lower station of the Pohorje cable car, La Cantina Pohorje has been serving Italian-inspired food for more than 20 years. Located in the older part of the cable car station building, the pizzeria and pasta restaurant is a familiar stop after skiing, cycling, hiking and other outdoor activities on Pohorje.
The menu focuses on pizza and pasta, combining Italian favourites with recipes inspired by local flavours. One example is the Pohorska pizza, topped with porcini mushrooms, cooked ham and peppers. Other choices include gnocchi, filled pasta, salads and desserts. The varied menu makes the restaurant suitable for a quick meal or a longer lunch after exploring the mountain.
La Cantina's setting changes with the seasons. In warmer weather, its sunny terrace overlooking Pohorje offers views of the mountain slopes. During winter, heated outdoor igloos provide another way to dine at the foot of the mountain. The combination of casual Italian cooking and proximity to Maribor's outdoor recreation area gives the restaurant its distinctive character.
