Estate wines and homemade dishes where modern Styrian viticulture took root in 1822.

On the wine-growing slopes of Pohorje above Limbuš, Meranovo Restaurant and Wine Cellar is part of an estate with an important place in Styrian wine history. In 1822, Archduke John planted noble grape varieties here, helping to shape modern viticulture in the region. Today, the vineyards and cellar are managed by the University of Maribor through its agricultural centre.

The restaurant serves estate-produced wines and traditional homemade dishes, including cold cuts, cheese platters, boiled pork knuckle and gibanica pastry. Weekend lunches are also available. Drinks include the estate's own juices and spirits, while visitors can purchase products such as apple juice, vinegar, pumpkin seed oil and seeds.

A highlight is a guided wine tasting in a cellar nearly 200 years old, combined with a tour of the estate. The experience also features the hybrid museum exhibition “Archduke John, Father of Meranovo”. Guided tours and group tastings require advance booking, bringing together local food, winemaking and the history of the Pohorje foothills.
