On Kozjak nad Pesnico near Zgornja Kungota, Doppler Wine House overlooks the Pesnica Valley and the hills around Šentilj. The estate's wine history reaches back to 1815, when monks from Admont Abbey planted vines here. Ivan Doppler acquired the property in 1938, and the fourth generation of the family now continues its winemaking tradition.
The wines come from the family's vineyards in the Styrian wine region. Furmint 2021 and Diona sparkling wine 2017 have received the regional Naše najboljše (Our Finest) quality certificate. Visitors can join guided cellar tours and tastings featuring five or seven selected wines. Tastings require advance booking and can be accompanied by snacks on request.
The estate is also home to Doppler Restaurant, where chef Jurij Daolio combines seasonal local ingredients with Mediterranean influences. He was named Young Talent 2026 by Gault&Millau Slovenia. The combination of winemaking, contemporary dining and hillside views makes Doppler a distinctive stop in the countryside near Maribor.
