On Maribor's Main Square, Ngon, a taste of Vietnam has introduced Vietnamese street food to the city since 2015. It was founded by Thu Tran, originally from Saigon, and Gregor Černelč, inspired by their experiences of Vietnamese food and travels through Vietnam. The restaurant brings fresh herbs, vegetables and aromatic spices into the heart of Maribor's old town.
One of its signature dishes is pho, a rice-noodle soup with a broth simmered for hours, served with beef, chicken or in a vegan version. The menu also features fresh rice-paper rolls with peanut sauce, fried spring rolls, wok dishes and lemongrass noodle salads. Meat and plant-based options are available, alongside desserts such as mango pudding and Che Banana.
Vietnamese coffee is another part of Ngon's identity, reflecting the country's distinctive coffee culture. Dishes are also available for takeaway and delivery. Its location on the square makes it an easy stop while exploring the historic streets of central Maribor.
