In Zgornja Polskava, near the Pohorje hills, Miza za štiri is an intimate restaurant created by chef Jure Brložnik and Maja Miška Brložnik. It began with a single table for four in their Maribor apartment. Today, three tables occupy separate private rooms, allowing the restaurant to welcome no more than twelve guests at a time.
The changing tasting menu centres on vegetables, complemented by seafood and usually one meat course. Jure Brložnik explores combinations of flavours and textures through dishes such as roasted beetroot tartare, cauliflower creations and carefully prepared fish. Wine pairings draw on selected bottles from Slovenia and France, chosen to complement the food.
Miza za štiri is listed in the Michelin Guide, holds three Gault&Millau toques and belongs to the JRE association of restaurants. Dining is by advance reservation only, with attentive personal service and a private setting that preserves the original idea behind the restaurant.
