In Ciglence near Spodnji Duplek, among the wine-growing hills east of Maribor, Kokol Wine House is a family estate with over 45 years of winemaking tradition. Its defining feature is a circular approach to production: grapes become wine, the seeds are pressed for oil, and the remaining material becomes flour. This approach made the estate one of five finalists in the circular economy category of the 2020 European Rural Inspirational Awards.
The family produces white and red wines, including Welschriesling, Riesling, Sauvignon, Yellow Muscat and Pinot Noir. Its own oil mill makes cold-pressed grape seed, pumpkin seed and sunflower oils, alongside pumpkin flour, seeds and chocolate-coated treats. Several products, including Pinot Gris, Riesling and selected oils, carry the regional Naše najboljše (Our Finest) quality certificate.
Visits can include guided wine tastings, homemade cold-cut platters and tours of the oil mill with oil tasting. Vineyard picnic tastings and direct purchases of farm products are also available.
