In Šentilj and the surrounding Slovenske gorice hills, Očkerl Winery brings together several members of the same winemaking family. Mirko Očkerl and his sons Boris, Danilo and Zdenko cultivate the vineyards with their families. The winery is based in Šentilj, while its wine cellar is located in Slatenik.
The vineyards occupy three separate sites: Slatenik, Srebotje and Štrihovec, in the wine-growing landscape near the Austrian border. Across approximately four hectares, the family grows eight grape varieties. These include Welschriesling, Furmint, Gewürztraminer, Yellow Muscat, Chardonnay, Kerner and Pinot Gris, alongside Pinot Noir. The range reflects the diversity of grape varieties grown in northern Slovenske gorice.
Očkerl Winery is part of the Upper Slovenske Gorice Wine Tourist Road, which links wine producers and regional wine heritage around Šentilj. Its defining feature is the involvement of several generations of the family in cultivating vineyards across three locations and producing a varied selection of wines.
