Just over a kilometre from Svečina towards Ciringa, among the vineyards of Slovenske gorice, Jamšek Excursion Farm and Winery combines family wines with regional farm food. The family also welcomes groups to Jamšek Cellar below Svečina Castle, housed in a building dating from 1837. At the entrance grows a descendant of Maribor's Old Vine, linking the cellar to the region's wine heritage.
The farm produces Riesling, Sauvignon, Yellow Muscat, Pinot Blanc and Kerner, in dry, off-dry and semi-sweet styles. Wines can also be purchased directly from the farm. Tastings are complemented by wood-fired farmhouse bread, traditional pork preserved in fat, gibanica pastry, jams and fruit compotes, bringing local food traditions to the table.
Group wine tastings in the historic castle cellar can be arranged in advance. A visit can be combined with walks through the vineyards around Svečina, near the Slovenian-Austrian border, where vineyard routes cross the surrounding hills.
