In Šentilj in the Slovenske gorice wine hills, close to the Austrian border, the Lilek family continues its winemaking tradition through Lilek Wines. In 2016, the younger generation began renewing the family farm and developing a new approach to wine and tourism. Its distinctive feature is a wine cellar around 200 years old, where tastings are accompanied by stories of the family and local wine heritage.
The vineyards around Šentilj and Svečina grow varieties including Sauvignon Blanc, Welschriesling, Yellow Muscat, Traminer and Zweigelt. Wines are produced in a modern cellar, while tastings take place in the restored historic building. Guests can enjoy homemade local treats while learning about the vineyards and winemaking.
The family also offers tourist accommodation and farm products, including juice from old apple varieties, cider and seasonal fruit. A visit combines wine tasting with an introduction to rural life and the wine-growing landscape of northeastern Slovenia.
