A historic cross near Hrastovec Castle preserves the legend of Agata and Count Friderik Herberstein.

The Black Cross (Črni križ) stands in Črni les forest near the village of Lormanje, not far from Hrastovec Castle and Lake Komarnik in the Slovenske gorice hills. The monument is associated with a tragic love story involving Count Friderik Herberstein and Agata of Štralek. Passed down through generations, the legend has become part of the region's cultural heritage.

According to the legend, Friderik's mother opposed their relationship. While the count was away at war, she accused Agata of witchcraft and arranged for her execution. On his return, Friderik is said to have erected a black cross in memory of his lost love. The story was retold by writer Ožbalt Ilaunig in his 1928 historical novel Črni križ pri Hrastovcu.

The original monument dates to the early 17th century and was restored several times. In 1939, the Zarja Catholic Cultural Society from Lenart reconstructed it on its original site. Today, the Black Cross preserves a local legend closely connected with Hrastovec Castle and the history of Slovenske gorice.
