The former Jewish quarter brings together a medieval synagogue, a defensive tower and art galleries.

Jewish Square (Židovski trg) lies in Lent, in the south-eastern part of Maribor's historic centre. In the Middle Ages, it formed the heart of the Jewish quarter, which developed within the city walls. A Jewish community was established in Maribor by the 13th century and played an important role in the city's commercial, economic and cultural life. Traces of this history remain visible around the square.

Its main landmark is Maribor Synagogue, first mentioned in 1354 and among the oldest surviving synagogues in Europe. Today, it houses the Centre of Jewish Cultural Heritage. Nearby stands the Jewish Tower, built in the 15th century as part of the city walls and now used by the Maribor Photo Club. Sections of the medieval fortifications are still visible beside the tower.

Today, the square forms part of the Židovska Cultural Quarter, bringing together galleries and cultural institutions. It also features Sklop, an artistic bench designed by architect Janko Rožič, and a large tree of heaven. Views extend towards the Drava River and Pohorje. Medieval heritage and contemporary art meet in this distinctive corner of Lent.
