Once a hub for Slovenian societies, the building now hosts concerts, theatre and cultural events.

Narodni dom Maribor stands in the city centre, between Main Square and the Lent district. The monumental Neo-Renaissance building was completed in 1898 to designs by Czech architect Jan Vejrych. It was created as a meeting place for Slovenian associations and institutions in what was then a predominantly German-speaking city, becoming a centre of Slovenian cultural, social and economic life in Styria.

The building once housed a Slovenian reading society, a dramatic society and a credit cooperative, alongside performances, concerts, lectures and dances. Its distinctive features include an elaborate façade, a small onion-domed tower and a hall with ornate stucco decoration. Its uses changed throughout the 20th century, before it returned primarily to cultural activities in the 1990s.

Today it houses the offices of Narodni dom Maribor, an organisation presenting concerts, theatre, exhibitions and other events across the city. The building connects the history of Slovenian cultural life with Maribor's contemporary arts scene.
