Shades of Art Gallery, on Betnavska Road in Maribor, presents the work of painter Renata Donko, whose art includes portraits, oil paintings and compositions featuring natural materials. Alongside traditional oil-on-canvas techniques, she incorporates stones, crystals and other natural elements into her work. The gallery reflects her personal approach to painting and visual expression.
An important part of her practice is creating portraits on commission, based on individual subjects and requests. Her collection also includes so-called energy paintings, in which colours and painted compositions are combined with natural stones and crystals. These elements form part of the artworks' visual design, reflecting the artist's interest in symbolism and personal meaning.
Donko has exhibited her work at various venues, including a 2017 exhibition of portraits of footballer Cristiano Ronaldo and his family. In 2020, she also presented Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli with an artwork connected to Maribor's Old Vine. Her work brings together portraiture, individual stories and motifs linked to Maribor.
